Welcome to the January issue of Communication Directory.

From the Nike Swoosh to Ray-Ban Wayfarers, icons of Americana have found their way into the hearts, minds and wallets of people throughout the world. However, even in 2016, the most globally recognisable companies must still translate their brands to match cultural expectations in different territories.

In this first edition of the Communication Directory newsletter for 2016, we are given a first-hand insight into the cross-cultural communication strategies of McDonald's as it extends its brand reach into China.

As always we seek to provide further understanding of the communications landscape in Asia-Pacific. That’s why we’re proud to present a new study from VMA Group collected at our recent Asia-Pacific Communications Summit: among other findings, it reveals that the region’s leading communicators believe their function will only rise in influence in the near future.  Elsewhere we present a curated selection of stand-out communication events for the first half of the year plus the latest job positions and personnel changes.

We wish you a productive start to the New Year and hope you enjoy the content we have planned for the coming months. As ever, we welcome your feedback: what would you like to see covered in our monthly newsletter or quarterly magazine? Let us know your thoughts at
