Welcome to the December issue of Communication Directory,

The political climate around the world is tense as acts of terror continue to claim lives of civilians in the name of extremist ideals. Against this backdrop, social media has emerged as an integral weapon in the terrorist’s arsenal.

In the December edition of Communication Directory newsletter, we present an in-depth look at how social media platforms not only aid violent extremists in recruitment, but also in the planning and execution of deadly attacks. It is imperative to understand these strategies, if we are to utilise these same platforms to counter extremism.

Despite these circumstances the communications world is busy as ever and we have collected the most important personnel changes, events and job opportunities. We also look at the insights from the first Asia-Pacific Communication Monitor, an exploration into the communication management trends in the region.

We wish you a happy and productive December and look forward to reconnecting in January!
